Board Approves Sale Of Falcons To Owners Of Fresno Minor League Baseball Team

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Friday that the Board of Governors
has overwhelmingly approved a Transfer of Controlling Interest for the
Fresno Membership from Chandar Sports California, LLC to Fresno Hockey Club
LLC.
The new ownership group includes Brian Glover, Chris Cummings, Bill
Cummings and Arline Parfitt. Glover and the Cummings brothers are principal
investors in Fresno Baseball Club which purchased the minor league Fresno
Grizzlies last fall.
"I would like to recognize Charles Davenport for his efforts in bringing
ECHL hockey to Fresno and Save Mart Center. At the same time we are excited
for the future of our league in Fresno," said ECHL Commissioner Brian
McKenna. "The enthusiasm of the new ownership and the fact that they have
ties to the fans and community through both baseball and hockey presents an
outstanding opportunity for growth and stability."
Fresno requested and was granted an Expansion Membership in the ECHL in
September 2002 along with the Alaska Aces, the Bakersfield Condors, the
Idaho Steelheads, the Las Vegas Wranglers, the Long Beach Ice Dogs and the
San Diego Gulls. The expansion also included the membership that is now
playing as the Phoenix RoadRunners and the membership in Reno, Nevada which
is awaiting completion of an arena.
The Premier âAA' Hockey League, the ECHL began in 1988 with five teams in
three states and is playing with 25 teams in 14 states and one Canadian
province in 2005-06. The ECHL has affiliations with 25 of the 30 teams in
the NHL and there are more than 100 players in the ECHL under contract to
NHL teams. There have been 297 players who have gone on to play in the NHL
after playing in the ECHL, including a record 41 in 2005-06, and each of
the past five Stanley Cup winners have had a former ECHL player.
