Roster moves as Titans ready for weekend

TRENTON, NJ (February 24, 2006) - The Trenton Titans announced on Friday that forward Cole Byers and defenseman Aaron Wilson have been activated off injured reserve and will be in the line-up tonight against the Wheeling Nailers.

Wilson, 23, has chipped in a goal and an assist and 47 penalty minutes over 36 games with Trenton. The second-year player out of Pickering, Ontario, split last year between the Fort Wayne Komets and Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League and the Jacksonville Barracudas of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Byers, 22, has appeared in 24 contests with the Titans while notching a goal, an assist and 74 penalty minutes. Now in his rookie season, the Nipawin, Saskatchewan native split 18 games last season between the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL and Quebec RadioX and Sorel-Tracy Mission of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey.

In a separate transaction, defenseman Mike Acosta has been waived.

Signed as a free agent by the Titans on February 1, the Reading, PA-native recorded two assists and 16 penalty minutes in 11 games. Acosta made his ECHL debut on January 6 with the Reading Royals and was also a former teammate of Scott Bertoli at Princeton University.

The Titans host the Wheeling Nailers tonight at 7:30pm at Sovereign Bank Arena.
