Phoenix, Ariz. - Members of the Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL will spend the next two Mondays reading to kids at local elementary schools in Maricopa County to help promote "Read Across America Week".

RoadRunners players will read to students from 12:30PM-2PM this Monday at both Camelview Elementary School (2002 East Campbell Avenue; Phoenix) and Heatherbrae Elementary School (7070 West Heatherbrae Drive; Phoenix). Players will also read to students from 2PM-3PM at Thew Elementary School (2130 East Howe Avenue; Tempe).

On Monday, March 6, the RoadRunners will take "Read Across America Week" to John F. Long Elementary School (4407 North 55th Avenue; Phoenix), Ironwood Elementary School (14850 North 39th Avenue; Phoenix), and Holiday Park Elementary School (4417 North 66th Avenue; Phoenix). Additional schools and further details regarding times of appearances will be released next week.

Started in 1998 as a way to get kids excited about reading, the National Education Association's "Read Across America" has become the nation's largest reading event. The NEA designates one week in March, on or near Dr. Seuss's March 2 birthday, as "Read Across America Week".

Phoenix welcomes the San Diego Gull to US Airways Center at 7:11PM tonight in another "Past Greats Night" as the RoadRunners honor former legend Tom McVie. The first 2,000 fans will receive a voucher good for a commemorative Tom McVie pint glass upon leaving the arena. It's the fifth glass in the six series set. In addition, the famous Phoenix Suns Dancing Dads will perform during the game and the RoadRunners will welcome the band "Dizma" for a special post-game concert in the Bud Light Paseo.
