
Blades Remain in Second Place with Three Wins

The Florida Everblades defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 5-2 this past Tuesday and then fell to the Columbia Inferno 8-0 on Friday night in Columbia, SC. Florida then swept the Columbus Cottonmouths in Columbus with a 3-2 shootout victory on Friday night and a 6-2 win on Saturday. The Everblades remained in sole possession of second place in the ECHL's Southeast Division with Saturday night's victory. Florida hosts the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Tuesday night at TECO Arena. All 72 regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM and on the Internet at www.floridaeverblades.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Mark Miller calling the play-by-play. 'The Gerry Fleming Coaches Show' presented by Stevie Tomato's Sportspage on Sportsradio 770 AM airs on 770 AM from 6:30 - 7:30 PM on Monday nights. GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Sea Wolves will meet for the second time this season. Florida is 1-0-0 against them this season and 1-0-0 at TECO Arena. Mississippi (32-19-4) currently ranks in 2nd place in the Southwest Division standings while Florida ranks in 2nd in the Southeast. The Sea Wolves are 15-12-1 on the road this season and 6-4-0 in their last ten games. Florida holds an 8-2-1 record all-time against the Sea Wolves and a 4-2-0 record at TECO Arena. Forward Steffon Walby leads the team in scoring with 34-36-70. His 34 goals leads the ECHL and his 70 points is ranked 5th. Walby's 17 power play goals and 7 short handed goals also both lead the ECHL. The Sea Wolves power play ranks 15th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 12th.
Friday, February 21st vs. Columbus Cottonmouths 7:30 PM/EST
GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Cottonmouths will meet for the eighth time this season. The Everblades are 3-1-3 this season and 0-1-2 at TECO Arena against the Cottonmouths. Columbus (18-27-8) currently ranks in 6th place in the Southeast Division. The Cottonmouths are 6-16-3 on the road this season and 3-5-2 in their last ten games. Florida holds a 8-3-3 record all-time against the Cottonmouths and a 3-1-2 record at TECO Arena. Forward Brent Cullaton leads the team in scoring with 15-36-51. The Cottonmouths power play ranks 14th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 27th.

The Florida Everblades (26-14-10) defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves (29-19-4) 5-2 in front of 5,388 at TECO Arena on Tuesday night. Florida netminder Rob Zepp stopped 34 of 36 shots and forward Joe Blaznek picked up a goal and an assist in the win.
Thursday, February 13th vs. Columbia Inferno 0-8 L
Columbia won for the sixth straight time defeating the Florida Everblades 8-0 at the Carolina Coliseum.
Friday, February 14th @ Columbus Cottonmouths 3-2 SOW
George Awada scored twice and Cam McCormick stopped 30 shots in regulation and all four Columbus shoot-out attempted as the Everblades won for only the second time this season in a shoot-out defeating Columbus 3-2.
Saturday, February 15th @ Columbus Cottonmouths 6-2 W
George Awada notched his first hat trick as an Everblades and Tom Buckley scored one goal and assisted on two others as the Florida Everblades defeated the Columbus Cottonmouths 6-2.

ECHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL player of the week nomination is forward George Awada. The Mendota Heights, Minnesota native registered five goals and two assists past week. Awada had two shorthanded goals this past week and scored five of the Everblades 13 goals this week as well.
ECHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL goaltender of the week nomination is Cam McCormick. The Kamloops, BC native was 2-0-0 this past week and stopped 52 of 56 shots he faced.
