Greensboro Generals News Release

UPCOMING WEEK: The Greensboro Generals have four games this week, including a crucial three game in three night stretch on the road for the weekend. The Generals start the week out at home, however, as they battle the Augusta Lynx for the first time since October on Tuesday night at 7:00. Then the weekend hits, with Greensboro visiting the Roanoke Express on Friday night at 7:35, the Columbia Inferno at 7:05 on Saturday, and the Lynx for a 4:05 matinee affair on Sunday afternoon. All games this season can be heard on WPET AM-950 and online at www.greensborogenerals.com. Sunday's game will also be tape-delayed, with the pre-game show starting at 5:45 and the opening face-off beginning at 6:00.

LAST WEEK:

2/11 GREENSBORO 2, CHARLOTTE 5 ¨ The battle for the Carolina Cup was extended to the final game of the season series with Charlotte's victory. Greensboro trailed 2-0 entering the second period, but Mark Turner cut the gap in half by scoring on a rebound of his own shot. The Checkers responded with a vengeance, however, reeling off three straight goals for a commanding 5-1 lead after two periods. Matt Chandler scored a third period goal for the Generals for the final score of the game.

2/13 RICHMOND 3, GREENSBORO 4 ¨ The Generals appeared to have the game well in hand in the third period, let it slip away, then responded to earn the victory. Goals from Matt Turek and Sam Ftorek put the Generals on top 2-0 after one period, and they held the advantage all the way until the third period. However, the Renegades blindsided the Generals with three unanswered goals to leap in front 3-2. Following a timeout after Richmond's third goal, Ftorek notched his second goal of the night just 23 seconds later to tie the game and swing the momentum back in Greensboro's favor. The Generals then took the lead for good with just under ten minutes remaining on a Chris Allen goal. Sebastien Centomo made 42 saves to earn his first win as a General.

2/14 GREENSBORO 0, TRENTON 4 ¨ The Generals were downed by a three-headed monster in Trenton. Mike Hurley posted a hat trick, Scott Bertoli dished out four assists, and goaltender Andrew Allen notched his third consecutive shutout.

2/16 ROANOKE at GREENSBORO -- Postponed ¨ Sunday's game was postponed due to the inclement weather in both Greensboro and Roanoke. The game has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 26 at 7:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

NOTABLES:

¨ Thursday's victory over Richmond was coached by Generals' assistant coach Dean Shmyr and injured team captain Jay Murphy. Coach Rick Adduono was suspended by the league for one game after an on-ice incident on February 2.

¨ Saturday's trade which sent Chris Bell to Baton Rouge leaves the Generals with only one player who played for the club last year. David Whitworth not only is the only holdover from last season. He's also appeared in at least parts of all four Generals seasons.

¨ Greensboro is 13-4-1 for 27 points against non-divisional opponents, giving them the most points in non-divisional games in the league.

¨ Of the Generals' 20 remaining games, only seven of them are against teams in the northeast division.

¨ Saturday's loss to Trenton not only was their first in five games against the Titans, it also marked the first time all season the Generals had been shut out.
