February 17, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
LAST WEEK: Pee Dee went 3-2-0 during its busiest week of the year, ending the week with back-to-back wins over Jackson and Cincinnati. The Pride are now 30-18-5 on the season for 65 points, and are in third place in the Southeast Division. They trail second-place Florida by one point, and are two points behind division-leading Columbia with two games in hand.
Tuesday, February 11 @ Greenville Grrrowl 6 PRIDE 4
Goals by Mike Glumac and B. J. Adams just 1:07 apart midway through the second period gave the Pride a 3-1 lead. But the Grrrowl came back with four unanswered goals, taking a 5-3 lead at the 9:34 mark of the third period. Pee Dee pulled back within one on a Greg Schmidt goal at 10:35, but an empty netter by Martin Masa iced it for Greenville.
Wednesday, February 12 @ Augusta PRIDE 6 Lynx 2
After a scoreless first period, Eric Naud and Kyle Kidney put the Pride on the board with goals just under three minutes apart early in the second. After the Lynx cut the lead in half, Allan Sirois scored a huge goal with just 46 seconds left in the period, to give the Pride momentum heading into the third. A pair of goals by Preston Mizzi and another by Matt Reid all in the first 5:55 of the final period allowed the Pride to cruise to the win, ending their seven-game road trip at 2-5-0.
Thursday, February 13 v. South Carolina Stingrays 5 PRIDE 3
For the second time in three days, the Pride had a 3-1 lead only to lose. Gregor Krajnc and Eric Naud both had a goal and an assist in the loss. South Carolina's power play was the key to the game, as the Stingrays went 3-for-8 on the man advantage.
Saturday, February 15 v. Jackson PRIDE 4 Bandits 3 (SO)
Jackson struck first on a Scott Kelman goal at 6:04, but the Pride answered just 44 seconds later on an Allan Sirois tally. Kelman scored again before the end of the period, giving the Bandits a 2-1 lead. It stayed that way until early in the third when Preston Mizzi tied it for the Pride. Then, at 12:44, Mike Glumac gave the Pride their first lead of the night. It did not last long though, as Jackson tied it two minutes later. In the shootout, Ron Vogel stopped six of seven Bandits' shooters, and it was Wes Goldie getting the clinching goal in round seven.
Sunday, February 16 v. Cincinnati PRIDE 4 Cyclones 3 (OT)
Ryan Gaucher put Cincinnati on the board just 16 seconds into the contest, blasting a shot from the point. Pee Dee tied it at 2:59 on a Matt Reid power-play tally. Two Cyclones' goals just 16 seconds apart midway through the first made it 3-1. In the second, Wes Goldie scored 1:03 in, and Dan Carriere scored with 48 seconds left tying the game up. In overtime, Aaron Gates notched the game winner at the 32-second mark.
