Buffalo Bisons News Release

MOOSIC, PA - The Buffalo Bisons used a pair of four-run innings to propel themselves to an 8-1 win against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Tuesday night at PNC Field.

Both starting pitchers cruised through the first two frames, but Buffalo went to work against Anthony Banda in the top of the third. The lefty gave up a lead off double to Trevor Schwecke then promptly hit L.J. Talley with a pitch. After walking Nathan Lukes, Banda was replaced by Zach Greene.

Greene balked with the bases loaded to score Talley and give Buffalo a 1-0 lead. Then the righty issued a bases loaded walk to Davis Schneider to give the Bisons a 2-0 lead. Addison Barger added an RBI groundout to extend the team's lead to 3-0 before an RBI single by Rafael Lantigua capped the frame 4-0 for the Herd.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's lone run came in the bottom of the fourth thanks to Anthony Vople. The New York Yankees' top prospect hit a triple and scored one batter later on a Ronald Guzman sacrifice fly.

Lantigua would finish with a three-hit night for the Bisons that included a lead off single in the sixth inning. Schwecke drove home a pair with a one-out triple that ballooned Buffalo's lead to 6-1 in the top of the sixth. Eric Stamets blasted his fifth homer of the season over the Bisons bullpen in left field. His two-run shot made it 8-1 in favor of the Herd.

Addison Barger added a two-out base hit in the top of the ninth to extend his hitting streak to eight straight games to start his Triple-A career. Eric Yardley was credited with his third win of the season after getting a pair of outs in relief of Bowden Francis.

The RailRiders were eliminated from the International League East pennant chase prior to the completion of Tuesday night's game when the Durham Bulls defeated the Charlotte Knights. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's pitching staff struck out 15 batters in the loss.

Buffalo and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will both conclude the 2022 season on Wednesday evening in Moosic, PA with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch scheduled.
