Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Rochester Red Wings dropped game two of their final series against the Worcester Red Sox by a final score of 8-6.
In the bottom of the fourth, Rochester scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by DH DJ Peters, scoring 3B Jake Alu. Alu had reached on a single to start the inning, extending his on-base streak to 20 games.
LF Adrian Sanchez followed up Peters' sacrifice fly with his 17th double of the season, scoring RF *Nick Banks. *
The Red Sox responded by hanging a four-spot on the board in the top of the fifth, capped by a two-run home run.
RHP* Joan Adon* logged 5.0 innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking one, and striking out eight. The righty entered the game with a 1.77 ERA in the month of September, but leaves the with a 2.84 mark.
LHP Alberto Baldonado came in to relieve Adon, pitching a scoreless sixth inning. With the outing, Baldonado has appeared in 56 games, tied for third in the International League in pitching appearances.
The never-say-die Wings fought back in the 6th after a single from Peters followed by a walk to Sanchez allowed 2B Jecksson Flores to hit a three-run home run, his third of the season and first since 7/29 against OMA.
All three of the home runs from Flores this season have been at the friendly confines of Frontier Field.
The rally continued as SS* Lucius Fox* singled and 1B* John Nogowski* walked. Alu would single in Fox, finalizing a four-run response to give them a 6-4 edge.
A run would score on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh, bringing the Red Sox within a run and back-to-back homers from Boston's top affiliate put the nail in the coffin as Rochester drops the Tuesday night matchup.
After outhitting Worcester, 13-10, in the loss, Rochester now drops to 44-20 on the season when out hitting their opponent.
