West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies and Alaska Aces skated to a scoreless tie through overtime before Alaska won 1-0 in a shootout Friday night at Maverik Center.

"I thought the boys battled hard, they played a great game," said Grizzlies Head Coach/GM Tim Branham. "That's a good team we played over there, they had something to prove; they came hard and we were up for the challenge, we played well. We had an absolute ton of scoring chances we just didn't score. You've got to tip your hat to our players, they played hard, they battled; I'm really proud of them."

Utah improved to 5-2-0-1 in their last eight home games and 2-0-0-1 in their last three games.

Igor Bobkov stopped all 26 shots that he saw through overtime and earned his second-straight shutout for Utah.

The Grizzlies killed all seven shorthanded situations in the game and improved to a league best 55 of 59 on the penalty-kill at home. Utah killed 1:33 shorthanded of four-on-three hockey in overtime and had five shorthanded situations over the final 26:10 of regulation.

Derick Martin clanged a post in the third period and Rylan Galiardi had a third period goal waved off after it was played with a high-stick.

Alaska scored on their first two shootout chances to secure the two standings points.

The series with Alaska wraps up Saturday with the Aces. Face-off is at 7:05 p.m. It is Ski and Snowboard night with giveaways throughout the night. There is also a post-game skate. Skate rental is $2.
