Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors fell to Kalamazoo Wings by a score of 2-0 on Saturday night. Jordan Binnington posted his first professional shutout in the 36 save performance.
The first period started off with seven penalties and a slow for the Road Warriors, who only had five shots on goal. The Wings challenged Road Warriors' goalie Scott Stajcer with 14 shots, but Stajcer held off all of Kalamazoo's scoring chances.
The Road Warriors had 17 shots on goal in the second frame, but Binnington remained strong. Stajcer saved all nine shots in the second period.
Much of the third period remained scoreless. With four minutes left in the third, Kalamazoo forward Matt Caira shattered the scoreless tied with a goal off a Road Warrior turnover. The Wings solidified their win with 34.2 seconds left in the third when Yanni Gourde scored a goal off an assist from Eric Kattelus. Gourde scored his tenth of the year on his own rebound to finalize the score at 2-0.
