December 7, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Doug Clarkson has been loaned by the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL to Reading. The Royals also: (i) placed forward Ethan Cox on the ECHL Reserve List; (ii) released emergency back-up goaltender Josh Watson; and (iii) signed emergency back-up goaltender Matt Tendler.
This season, Clarkson (6'5/249) (25), a second year pro from Mimico, Ontario, played one game with the Phantoms without registering any points or penalty minutes. Last year, he played 30 total games in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye and Trenton Titans. In those games, he scored four goals, assisted on four others (eight points) and picked up forty-one penalty minutes. Watson was signed as Reading's EGB early last week and served as the team's back-up in the 4-3 overtime loss in Wheeling last night. This is the first experience with the Royals for Tendler, who hails from Warminster, Pennsylvania, and played collegiately at Neumann College.
The Royals return home tonight (Saturday, December 7 @ 7:05 pm) when the team will face the Fort Wayne Komets. The first 2000 fans 15 years of age and older will receive the Yannick Tifu Kelly Cup Bobblehead courtesy of V&M Towing (first 2,000 - 15 and older). It is also a Scout Night & Youth Hockey Night, and the team will host the "Saturday Night Shoot for Cash" presented by Diamond Credit Union. Saturday's game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 will kick off with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show at 6:35 pm.
