December 7, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Alaska Aces broke open a scoreless third period tie and added a late empty-net goal to beat the Utah Grizzlies 3-0 Saturday night at Maverik Center.
Utah goaltender Ben Meisner stopped 33 of 35 shots in the losing effort as Utah allowed their first goal of the three-game series 5:36 into the third on a four-on-four goal from Mathieu Sisca.
The goal ended the Grizzlies shutout streak at 178:27 minutes and a stretch of nearly a week without Utah allowing a goal.
"We had a couple miscues for the goals against," said Grizzlies Head Coach/GM Tim Branham. "But in the end, we played pretty well defensively. Tonight wasn't our best game all around from start to finish; but we need to find guys that are going to score goals."
Alaska made it 2-0 with 4:09 left in the third period and added an empty-net goal with 1:41 remaining.
Utah opens a six-game road trip Friday and Saturday in baseball. Face-off each night is at 8:10 p.m.
The Grizzlies return to Maverik Center Saturday, December 28 and Tuesday, December 31 at 6 p.m. December 28 is a post-game skate with the Grizzlies. For New Year's Eve, fans can take advantage of $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks and $2 Draft Beers.
Ticket packages for the 2013-2014 season are still on sale and start at just $29. For more information, visit http://www.utahgrizzlies.com or call (801) 988-7825.
