Colorado Eagles News Release

ESTERO, FL. -The Colorado Eagles (13-5-3-0) could not stage a comeback against the Florida Everblades (14-6-1-1) at Germain Arena on Saturday night as Colorado fell 4-2. The Eagles faced a strong effort from Florida goaltender Trevor Cann but a pair of goals from Eagles forward Kyle Ostrow closed the gap.

Florida forward Kyle Bonis found the back of the net first to give the Everblades the early 1-0 lead just 6:51 into the first frame. There was one good outcome from the Florida goal as it was the Everblades Teddy Bear Toss night so the teddy bears were raining down onto the ice after the first Florida goal and were collected to be distributed to under privileged children in the area.

Less than five minutes into the second period, the Everblades took advantage of Eagles netminder Marc Cheverie coming out of his net to play a puck to pump their lead, 2-0, on a goal from the league leader in points, Matthew Pistilli. Florida forward Rocco Carzo scored a short-handed goal to give the Everblades the 3-0 advantage with only 15 seconds left in the second.

Not even a minute into the third period Everblades forward Mathieu Roy put Florida up 4-0 off of a turnover in the Eagles zone. Colorado finally answered a minute later with the first goal from Ostrow to get the Eagles on the board 4-1. Ostrow beat Cann for the second time in thirty seconds to diminish the Everblades lead to 4-2. Colorado outshot the Everblades 16-5 in the third as a last chance effort to make a comeback, but they were unsuccessful and Florida came out on top with a final score of 4-2.

Despite the loss the Eagles are still 2-1 in the first three games in Florida and they will head back to Orlando to face off with the Solar Bears again on Sunday, December 8.
