WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Olivier Roy made 26 saves through 65 minutes and followed with stops on all four shooters he faced to lift the Alaska Aces to a 1-0 shootout victory over the Utah Grizzlies before 3,833 fans at Maverik Center on Friday.

The Aces snapped their three game losing skid with the victory, aided by a pair of shootout goals from Evan Trupp and Brendan Connolly in the first two rounds. Roy sealed the win with a glove save on Vinny Scarsella, outdueling counterpart Igor Bobkov who made 26 saves.

Both teams played through a scoreless duel in the first period and Roy came up with a timely save on Michael Pelech's one timer off the rush.

Bobkov turned in seven saves in the second period to counter eight by Roy, but the Aces generated a string of quality scoring chances to end the period through numerous screens and deflections on Bobkov.

Both goaltenders exchanged eight saves in the third period while the Aces came up empty on an early third period power play. In the final minute of regulation, Roy denied Pat O'Keefe's bid off the rush while Bobkov stoned Connolly on a redirection with 30 seconds left.

Utah killed a four-on-three situation early in overtime after Rylan Galiardi was nailed for interference on the goaltender late in the third period. But the Aces finally cracked Bobkov, who had a stretch of 125 minutes of shutout hockey in two games, on Trupp's first round goal in the shootout when he deked Bobkov to the blocker side.

Following Galiardi's miss on Roy, Connolly came back and roofed a snap shot past Bobkov in the second round.

Scarsella then took aim at the inside of the right post in the bottom of the fourth round, but Roy got his glove on the wrist shot to close the game.
