Admirals Dumped by Wolves 5-2

Milwaukee, WI-- The Chicago Wolves high-powered offense was too much for the Milwaukee Admirals to handle as they cashed in five goals in the contest that resulted in a victory of 5-2 Chicago in the seventh game of the Amtrak Rivalry Friday night at the Bradley Center.
The game started well enough for Milwaukee as the Admirals reached the scorecard first as Aaron Johnson posted a goal at 8:25 in the opening period. The puck was out of control by the far boards in the Wolves zone, the Wolves defense then knocked the puck out to Johnson on the far pointwhere he positioned himself for an open slapshot that cruised right over Wolves goaltender Peter Mannion, giving the Ads at 1-0 lead.
However Just thirty seconds later at 8:55, the Wolves right wing and former Admiral Darren Haydar came back with an answer to tie the game at one. The Admirals had a difficult time keeping the puck out of the zone as Haydar pushed the puck past Admirals goaltender Mark Dekanich after Andre Deveaux's wrap around attempt.
The Wolves started rolling in the second period as they posted the tying goal at 5:51 from a deflection by Fredrik Pettersson. The Wolves increased their lead to two as Wolves forward Tim Miller stole the puck behind the net and put it off of Dekanich's backside at the 7:25 mark. Dekanich was replaced by netminder Jeremy Smith after the goal.
The third period began with another former Admiral, defenseman Mark Matheson, lighting the lamp at 1:44. Later, the Wolves final goal came from a two-on-one break from the right side of the ice as Nigel Dawes and winger Haydar went on to score.
Kelsey Wilson scored for Milwaukee at 16:05 in the third period to complete the scoring. The transition started with Mark Santorelli as he passed up the ice to defensemen Roman Josi in the neutral zone. Josi shot faked from the near dot, he then found winger Wilson on the top of the circle where he blasted a slapshot that was placed on the top shelf of netminder Mannion.
The one bright spot for the Ads was the play of the penalty kill unit, which did not give up a goal in six shorthanded situations against the Wolves potent power-play.
The Admirals return to the ice on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm against the Rockford IceHogs.
