Binghamton Senators News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators kicked off a weekend of three games in three nights tonight with a stop at the Blue Cross Arena versus the North Division's Rochester Americans.

Barry Brust earned the nod in goal, making 36 saves to help the B-Sens to the 3-0 shutout victory over the Amerks. The shutout was Brust's sixth of the season. He improves to 18-12-1 on the season and now leads all American Hockey League goaltenders in shutouts.

On the offensive side the B-Sens got on the board with a goal coming late in the opening stanza. Colin Greening fired a shot from the left wing boards to the front of the Amerks net, which Cody Bass was able to redirect past Rochester's Tyler Plante with just 55.8 seconds remaining in the period. David Dziurzynski would also pick up an assist on the goal, which was Bass's second of the season.

The Senators doubled up on the Amerks just 24 seconds into the second period, as Plante misplayed a shot by Erik Condra. Roman Wick set up the goal, while Craig Schira also earned credit for a helper.

Despite outshooting the B-Sens 13-3 in the third, the Amerks failed to solve Brust. With Plante pulled in favor of the extra attacker within the closing minutes of regulation, Corey Locke found the empty net with just 22.5 seconds remaining to seal Rochester's fate.

The Binghamton Senators return to action tomorrow night in Hershey as they face the Bears for the final time during the 2010-11 regular season. Game time is 7 p.m. Fans can listen live on 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM beginning 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens.
