Canucks Recall Salo from Conditioning Stint

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, today announced they have recalled defenceman Sami Salo from his conditioning stint with the Moose.

Salo, 36, was assigned to the Moose on Friday, Feb. 4. He played three games on Manitoba's Eastern Conference road trip, recording two goals and two penalty minutes. The native of Turku, Finland has played in 665 NHL games in his 12-year professional career with Ottawa and Vancouver where he's scored 273 points (81g, 192a) and collected 228 penalty minutes. Salo has represented Finland at the last three Winter Olympic Games (2002 Salt Lake City, 2006 Torino, 2010 Vancouver), two World Championships (2001 & 2004), and a World Cup (2004).

He was originally drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the ninth round, 239th overall, of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
