
Wolves Sail Away With 5-2 Win In Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE---The Chicago Wolves broke a 1-1 tie with five straight goals, picking up an eventual 5-2 win in an Amtrak Rivalry matchup against the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center Friday night.
Forwards Darren Haydar, Fredrik Pettersson, Tim Miller and Nigel Dawes and defenseman Mark Matheson lit the lamp for the Wolves.
Milwaukee (28-14-2-7) opened scoring 8:25 into the game when defenseman Aaron Johnson fired a shot through traffic beating Chicago goaltender Peter Mannino.
Chicago (27-23-2-4) responded with a goal 40 seconds later to tie the score at one. Center Andre Deveaux wrapped around the back of the net and backhanded the puck into the paint, allowing Haydar to skate up and tap it past Admirals netminder Mark Dekanich.
Pettersson redirected a blast from defenseman Jaime Sifers to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead 5:51 into the second period.
Chicago brought the score to 3-1, 7:25 into the middle frame when Miller skated behind the net, reached and angled the puck toward the goal, where it rolled off of Dekanich's pads and into the net.
The marker sent Dekanich (19-8-5) to the bench in favor of back up Jeremy Smith. Dekanich recorded 10 saves in 27:25 minutes of play in taking the loss.
The Wolves increased their lead to 4-1, 1:44 into the third period when Matheson fired a wrist shot from the blueline past Smith, glove side.
Chicago added its fifth goal when Dawes took a feed from Haydar and sent the puck flying by Smith, top shelf 12:45 into the final frame.
Smith posted 11 saves in 32:35 minutes of relief duty for Milwaukee.
The Admirals closed scoring at 5-2 when left wing Kelsey Wilson blasted a shot from the right faceoff circle over Mannino with 3:55 left in the game.
Mannino (13-13-3) thwarted 24 shots in the win.
The Wolves travel to the Toyota Center to face the Houston Aeros on Thu., Feb. 17 at 11 a.m.
