Admirals do the Texas Two-Step

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- With the NCAA's Frozen Four occupying the Bradley Center Ice this week, the Milwaukee Admirals hit the road for a pair of games with the San Antonio Rampage at 7:00 pm on both Thursday and Saturday nights at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The Ads will look to lengthen their lead over the Houston Aeros in the race for the West Division crown. Milwaukee currently has 101 points to the Aeros 98, and the Ads could have a seven-point cushion when their Texas two-step is over since Houston does not take the ice again until Sunday afternoon, also against San Antonio.
Milwaukee will have five days to recover from any jetlag they may suffer as they don't play again until April 14th versus the Chicago Wolves in the team's final home game. The Admirals will finish off the regular season right where they started it over six months prior: at Grand Rapids on Saturday, April 15th. The Aeros, on the other hand, have five games to go in the season's last seven days including a tough three-in-three stretch to end the year that will see them play in Houston on Friday, at Chicago on Saturday, and then at Iowa on Sunday.
Thrown into the mix the surging Peoria Rivermen, who are nipping on the heals of the Aeros and the Ads with 93 points and six games to play, and the West Division is still up for grabs.
The race for the final playoff spot in the West is just as intense, if not more, than the chase for the title. Iowa and Omaha are tied for the fourth spot with 80 points, but the Stars win the tie-breaker because they have two more wins than the Knights. Meanwhile the Wolves, who once looked to be down and out, are the hottest team in the league, having won eight straight games and pulled within three points of the final playoff spot in the division.
So what does all of this mean for the Admirals? Quite simply (or really not so simply), it means that they could still finish anywhere from first to third in the division and could end up playing any of five separate teams in the opening round.
The Ads have two magic numbers to consider: 5 and 8. Five is their magic number to clinch home-ice in the first round of the playoffs. Any combination of Milwaukee points earned and Peoria points not earned that equals five gives the Admirals that ever coveted home-ice advantage. Eight is the team's magic number with Houston to take home their second division crown in three years.
Tickets for the regular season finale with the Wolves are just $2 for seats in the 400 level and all proceeds from the tickets will go to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. In addition, $2 from each 200 level seat will also be donated to Children's. To purchase tickets fans can call Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.ticketmaster.com.
