Wolves Take a Stepp in the Right Direction

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned left wing JOEL STEPP from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators to the Chicago Wolves.

The 23-year-old forward ranks fifth on the Gladiators with 38 assists and sixth with 54 points in 54 ECHL games with Gwinnett and the Augusta Lynx.

STEPP, who was acquired by Atlanta from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for goaltender Jani Hurme on March 1, also registered two goals, three points and 21 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Portland Pirates - Anaheim's American Hockey League affiliate - this season.

Overall, the Estevan, Saskatchewan, native has racked up 12 goals, 17 assists, 29 points and 72 penalty minutes in 145 career AHL games with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (2003-2005) and Portland (2005-06).
