Steel Complete 2026 USHL Draft with 13 Phase II Selections

May 5, 2026 - CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel finished the 2026 USHL Draft on Tuesday, rounding out their Phase II class with 13 selected players. The selections join forward Harrison Smith, who was a Phase II tender by the Steel prior to the draft. "We feel very good about the group we've assembled," said Steel General Manager Bobby Goepfert. Steel Select 15 Players in Phase I of 2026 USHL Draft

May 4, 2026 - CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel completed Phase I of the 2026 USHL Draft Monday, adding 15 players to their initial protected list from the 2010 birth year. "We're excited to welcome these 15 young men into our group," said Steel General Manager Bobby Goepfert. "Each of these individuals was identified as priority draft selections based on their demonstrated talent, competitiveness, and overall approach to the game. Steel Sign Harrison Smith to Phase II Tender Agreement

April 29, 2026 - CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel announced Wednesday the signing of forward Harrison Smith of the Maryland Black Bears in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) to a USHL Phase II tender agreement for the 2026-2027 season. The signing of Smith replaces the Steel's first round pick in Phase II of the USHL Draft, scheduled to take place on May 5. Steel Close out Fox Valley Ice Arena Tenure

April 4, 2026 - GENEVA, IL - Chicago came within a goal of erasing a three-goal deficit late in the third period, but couldn't pull off the comeback as the USA Hockey NTDP U17 (17-40-3-2, 39 pts.) downed the Steel (27-27-6-2, 62 pts.) 8-6 at Fox Valley Ice Arena Saturday night. Playing in their final game in Geneva, the Steel finished their 11-year tenure at Fox Valley Ice Arena with a cumulative attendance of 389,812 fans, scoring 1,279 goals and delivering countless memories for fans.
