
Wranglers double up Roadrunners 4-2

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers (45-10-6, 96 points) beat the Phoenix Roadrunners (19-38-3, 41 points) 4-2 at the U.S. Airways Arena on Tuesday night. Center Derek Edwardson scored the game-winning in his return from the AHL to lead the Wranglers to their fifth consecutive win. Left wing Dan Tudin scored a goal and added an assist as Las Vegas pulled within two points of the idle Alaska Aces for first place in the West Division. Center Matt Dzieduszycki and defenseman Steve Marr also scored as Las Vegas improved to 23-8-3 on the road. Goalie Marc Magliarditi picked up his 31st win of the season with 18 saves. Despite the loss, Phoenix netminder Ryan Cyr made 41 saves. The Wranglers play in Phoenix again on Thursday at 6:11 pm (PST).
In the first period, the Roadrunners struck first at the 3:24 mark when defenseman Dusty Demianiuk scored his first goal of the season on a slapshot from the right point for the 1-0 lead. The Wranglers countered just over five minutes later when Dan Tudin scored his 29th goal of the season to tie the game at one. Tudin tipped a Tyler Sloan from the left point, redirecting the shot past Phoenix goalie Ryan Cyr. Las Vegas struck again with only two minutes left in the first period to claim a 2-1 lead. Defenseman Steve Marr scored his first ever professional goal with a shot from the point. Derek Edwardson set up the goal with a pass from the high slot, helping set up the screened shot from the point at 18:00.
After a scoreless second period, the Wranglers opened up a two-goal lead when Derek Edwardson notched his 15th goal of the season off a Phoenix turnover at 3:03. Center Matt Dzieduszycki extended the lead to 4-1 on his 32nd goal of the year at 4:53. Phoenix defenseman Brad Woods scored his sixth of the year to cut the lead in half at 6:24.
The Wranglers conclude their season-long, nine-game road trip with one more game in Phoenix on Thursday next week, before returning home on March 17th to host the Alaska Aces for a three-game series. On Friday March 17th, the Wranglers will wear specialty jerseys for St. Patrick's Day. The jerseys, sponsored by McMullan's Irish Pub, the official Irish Pub of the Las Vegas Wranglers, will be available for purchase through a silent auction on the concourse during the game.
Bright orange "Dick Cheney" hunting vests with the slogan "DON'T SHOOT, I'M HUMAN" will be given to the first 1,000 fans that attend the Las Vegas Wranglers game on Friday, March 17, the Wranglers announced Tuesday. The vest will also feature a Wranglers' logo.
Playoff tickets are now available for the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Fans may purchase a strip of tickets that will include every home playoff game for as little as $200.00 per seat. Fans may obtain playoff ticket information from the Wranglers' front office by calling 702-471-7825 (PUCK). Wranglers season ticket holders and mini-plan holders have the first right of refusal for there seats.
Tickets for all games are on sale now. Fans may purchase seats to all Wranglers home games at any of the following ticket locations: The Orleans Arena Box Office, Coast Casinos' showroom box offices at The Orleans, Gold Coast, South Coast and Suncoast, or at the Galleria Mall guest relations/ticket centers.
