Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (38-19-3) scored six unanswered goals to come-from-behind and earn a 6-2 win over the Columbia Inferno (21-33-7) in front of a standing-room only crowd of 7,385 at Germain Arena. The win allowed the Everblades to end their season-long home stand with a 5-3-0 record.
For the third straight game, the Inferno opened the scoring, tallying twice in the first eight and a half minutes of the game. Jeff Miles put Columbia on the board with a power play goal at 5:30 and Travis Lisabeth gave the Inferno a 2-0 lead after beating Everblades goaltender Kevin Nastiuk with a 5-on-3 power play goal at 8:21.
The score remained 2-0 in favor of Columbia until the closing moments of the second period. With 1:21 remaining in the middle period Chris Lee fired a shot past Columbia net-minder Chris Houle for his 10th goal of the year. A late penalty called against the Inferno allowed Martin Lojek to blast a shot into the upper left corner of the net with just 21 seconds remaining in the period to tie the game.
With the game still tied midway through the third period, the Everblades erupted for four goals over the final 10:44. Kevin Bergin tallied the eventual game-winning goal with his team-leading 24th goal of the season at 9:16. Vince Bellissimo scored the next two for Florida scoring at 14:22 and 18:34 and John Ronan closed out the scoring by notching his 12th goal of the season with just 29 seconds remaining in regulation.
Nastiuk earned his third straight win by coming up with 29 saves to raise his overall record to 9-3-1. Houle suffered the loss by allowing the six goals on 40 Florida shots, which dropped his record to 11-21-4.
On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 1-for-5, while the Inferno closed out game going 2-for-6.
