March 14, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Jeff Campbell has been called up to the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League becoming the 15th different player to advance to the American Hockey League this season from the Gladiators.
Campbell currently leads the Gladiators in scoring with 77 points off of 29 goals and 48 assists in 58 games this season for the Gladiators. Campbell also leads Gwinnett in shorthanded goals with 5 while his 7 game winning goals is tops on the Gladiators.
His 77 points is currently a new Gladiators team record for points in a season breaking Kevin Doell's mark of 73 points set during the Gladiators inaugural 2003-04 season. Campbell is 12 points shy of setting a new franchise record of points in a season that would eclipse Jason Elders mark of 88 recorded during the 1999-2000 season with the Mobile Mysticks.
The Hensall, Ontario native has represented the Gladiators in the past two ECHL All Star Games posting an assist in the 2005 game in Reading, Pennsylvania while he collected a goal and two assists in the 2006 game in Fresno, California.
Campbell played four seasons at Western Michigan University before turning pro last season. He collected 65 goals in 149 collegiate games for the Broncos.
Campbell makes his first trip to the AHL as he joins former Gladiator Scott Kelman on the Lock Monsters. Kelman was called up to Lowell on March 2nd. Campbell and Kelman should be available for the Lock Monsters on Friday, March 17th as they travel to Springfield to take on the Falcons at 7:35 p.m.
The Gwinnett Gladiators, who have already clinched a 2006 Kelly Cup Playoff berth, continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road as they travel to Greenville to take on the Grrrowl at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, March 17th. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties. For more information call 770-497-5100 or log on to gwinnettgladiators.com.
