Wilkes-Barre/Scranton signs Jean-Michel Daoust to PTO

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed right wing Jean-Michel Daoust to a professional tryout contract.

Daoust, 24, currently leads the ECHL with 51 points, ranks second with 27 goals and tied for second with 11 power play goals in 36 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones. Daoust has also appeared in one game with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League this season, going scoreless.

The 5-7, 155 pound native of Valleyfield, Quebec, posted an eight-game goal streak with the Cyclones from November 7-23 (10 goals), and tallied in 13 consecutive ECHL games with Cincinnati between December 8 and January 12 (15+9=24).

Daoust also recorded hat tricks in back-to-back games against the Johnstown Chiefs (Dec. 16) and Wheeling Nailers (Dec. 19) this season.

Daoust ranked tied for 11th in the ECHL with 32 goals last season, and was tied for 18th with 12 power play tallies.

He was a teammate of former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins center Maxime Talbot with Hull and Gatineau in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2000-2004.

The Penguins take on the Norfolk Admirals at the Scope on Friday and Saturday at 7:15pm, and stop in Hershey for a Sunday afternoon contest at 5:00pm. All Penguins games can be seen live via the B2 networks, and can be heard on 92.1 QFM, and via the Penguins website at www.wbspenguins.com.
