Falcons Host Wolf Pack Tonight

The Springfield Falcons and Hartford Wolf Pack meet for the fourth time this season when they go head-to-head on Friday night at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons are 0-2-0-1 against the Wolf Pack this season, including 0-1 on home ice. The last time these two divisional rivals met was back on December 28 in Springfield with the Falcons battling back from a 3-0 deficit to close within 3-2 in the third period, but Hartford held on for the one-goal win. After tonight's game, the Falcons and Wolf Pack will not meet again until February 1 when Springfield heads back to Hartford.

Falcons forward Rob Schremp leads the team in scoring against the Pack this season with three assists in three games, while Marc Pouliot, Sebastien Bisaillon, Jean-Francois Jacques, Colin McDonald and Ben Simon have all scored goals against Hartford this year.

Wolf Pack forward Nigel Dawes leads Hartford in scoring against Springfield this season with three goals and two assists for five points in two games, but he is currently on recall to the New York Rangers. The Wolf Pack has used eight different goal scorers against the Falcons this season. Goaltender Al Montoya has a record of 1-0 with a 1.20 goals against average and .961 save percentage this season against Springfield.

The Falcons get back into game action tonight after falling to the Providence Bruins in their last game played by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. Springfield will be looking to end a two-game losing streak tonight before heading to Hershey for a Saturday night contest against the Bears. The Falcons remain in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 19-17-3-3 good for 44 points. The Falcons will start a stretch of three games in four days as they play in Hershey on Saturday and host the Worcester Sharks on Monday.

The Wolf Pack head into Springfield having won four straight games and remain in third place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 25-12-04 good for 54 points. Hartford most recently beat the Worcester Sharks 5-2 on Wednesday night at the XL Center. The Wolf Pack has used four different players to record the game-winning goal during their winning streak including: Alex Bourret, Artem Anisimov, Tommy Pyatt, Andrew Hutchinson.

MATT GREENE ASSIGNED TO FALCONS - FARYNUK RECALLED FROM STOCKTON: The Falcons announced Thursday that defenseman Matt Greene has been assigned to the Falcons by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Edmonton Oilers, on a conditioning assignment. Springfield also announced they have recalled defenseman Brad Farynuk from their ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder.

Greene has missed the Oilers last 34 games (November 2nd to January 15th) after suffering a fractured left fibula and ligament damage in his left ankle on October 30th in a game versus the Detroit Red Wings at Rexall Place. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound blueliner had scored one assist with 11 penalty minutes in 13 games for the Oilers this season prior to the injury.

Greene is in his third professional season and spent the entire 2006-07 campaign with the Oilers collecting one goal and nine assists for 10 points and 109 penalty minutes in 78 games. Greene has played in 118 career NHL games, and also has played in 26 career AHL contests, all with the Iowa Stars during the 2005-06 campaign. Greene was selected by the Oilers in the second round (44th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

This is Farynuk's fourth recall of the season to Springfield and the Enderby, British Columbia native has played in three games for the Falcons this season not registering a point. In 28 games with the Thunder this season, the Stockton captain has three goals and 12 assists for 15 points and was named to participate in the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game, which will be played in Stockton this season.

WOLF PACK PLAYER NOTES: Andrew Hutchinson has collected at least a point in four of his last five games collecting one goal and three assists in that span...Pierre Parenteau has recorded at least a point in five of his last six games collecting two goals and five assists for seven points in that span....Ivan Baranka has picked up at least a point in three of his last four games collecting three assists in that span....Ryan Callahan has collected two goals and four assists for six points in four games with Hartford since being reassigned to Hartford by the New York Rangers. Callahan is in his second season of professional hockey after scoring 35 goals and 20 assists for 55 points in 60 games with the Wolf Pack during his rookie campaign. Callahan started this season with the Rangers collecting one goal in 24 contests. The Rochester, NY native also appeared in 10 post-season games with the Rangers last season scoring two goals and adding one assist.
