
P-Bruins Defeat Devils 7-1

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Lowell Devils 7-1 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Martins Karsums, Sean Curry, Jeff Hoggan and two goals from Aaron Slattengren and Matt Hendricks. The 31-7-2-1 Atlantic Division leading P-Bruins are back at home Sunday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 4:05 p.m. for T.J. Trevelyan Poster Night. The P-Bruins also have a road game Saturday against the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. Providence remains nine points ahead of the second place Pirates.
The P-Bruins scored first at the 5:41 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Brett Skinner took a shot from the blue line and Lowell goaltender Jordan Parise made the save. The puck went off the stick of Matt Hunwick to Slattengren, who netted his first AHL goal of the season. Providence took a 2-0 lead while on the power play again at the 11:31 mark. Matt Lashoff took a shot from just inside the blue line and the puck was deflected off the stick of Jonathan Sigalet towards the net. The puck went off the stick of Slattengren and into the net. The P-Bruins wrapped up the scoring in the opening period at the 14:00 mark. Dwayne Zinger sent the puck out of his own zone to Karsums in the neutral he fed it to Hendricks who scored his tenth goal of the season.
In the second period, the P-Bruins extended their lead to 4-0. While the P-Bruins were setting up the power play behind their own Hunwick sent the puck to Skinner, who skated the length of the ice. He fed the puck to Karsums. While losing his balance and crashing to the ice, Karsums slipped the puck past Parise and into the net for his tenth goal of the season. Providence took a 4-0 lead into the second intermission.
In the third period, the P-Bruins took a 5-0 advantage at the 3:46 mark. Skinner passed the puck to Hoggan behind the net and he sent it to Hendricks in the slot. Hendricks tallied his second goal of the game and 11th goal of the season. The P-Bruins continued to score at the 9:22 mark. Hendricks tipped the puck from in front of the Devils bench to Chris Collins. He sent the puck to the far side of the crease where Curry tipped the puck into the net. Lowell got on the board with a power play goal at the 16:55 mark. With one second left on the power play Benoit Mondou scored his sixth goal of the season with Mike Pandolfo and Olivier Grenier recording the assists. The P-Bruins added one final goal at the 19:03 mark. Hoggan scored his 15th of the season with a pile of players in front of the net. Lashoff picked up his second assist of the game and Karsums his third point of the game.
Tuukka Rask stopped 16 of 17 shots for the P-Bruins, while Parise made 30 saves for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 3-for-6 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
The Atlantic Division-leading P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday for T.J.
