On the rush, Bill Zonnon received a pass in the left circle and slung a wrist shot inside the far post to give the Penguins a 3-0 lead just 43 seconds into the second period.
Rutger McGroarty tracked a floating puck, corralled it and slung a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle inside the near post for a power play goal to make it 4-0 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with 15:34 to play in the second frame.
McGroarty protected the puck around a defenseman in the left circle while heading towards the crease, where he flipped a backhanded shot into the top shelf of the net to give the Penguins a 5-0 lead with 18:17 left in the third period.
Alex Steeves fed the puck to Guenette in the slot, where his snap shot found the upper-right corner of the net to cut the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton lead to 5-1 with 15:02 remaining in the third period. Brendan Gaunce was credited with a secondary assist.
A wrist shot from the point was redirected between the legs of the goaltender by Oliver Okuliar to give the Penguins a 6-1 lead with 10:48 to play in the third frame.
While on the power play, Duran backhanded a loose puck above the crease into the back of the net to make it 6-2 with 2:39 left in the third period. Lukas Reichel and Jordan Harris received assists.
