PHILADELPHIA - Jeff Tambellini scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers earned their first win of the season series with Philadelphia, 2-1 at the Wachovia Spectrum. Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz, making his first start of the season for Bridgeport after being sent from the New York Islanders earlier in the day on a conditioning assignment, backstopped the Tigers to the win with 29 regulation saves and four stops in the shootout.

The Phantoms jumped on the board first just after the halfway point of the first period. Pete Zingoni had the puck as a broken breakout came through the neutral zone, and ended up facing three Bridgeport defensemen by himself as he crossed the blue line. With few options at his disposal, he threw a puck on net from about 50 feet. Dubielewicz came out to cut down the angle and was about four feet above the top of the crease, but Zingoni's bid wobbled through a chink in the armor, caught the crossbar and landed behind the goal line to give the Phantoms a 1-0 lead with 9:27 remaining in the period. The lead stood at the first intermission.

But the Phantoms had some bad luck of their own 3:15 into the second period. The Phantoms were putting on heavy pressure during a power play, but just as it was coming to an end, a left point slapshot hit a Bridgeport player and caromed out to center ice on a silver platter for Frans Nielsen, who was freshly paroled from the penalty box. He came in on a breakaway and beat Scott Munroe through the legs to tie the game at 1-1.

The shootout was a back-and-forth affair as well. Trevor Smith started the scoring for Bridgeport in the third round, but Kyle Greentree answered for Philadelphia. Tambellini's goal in the fourth round was the last, and Dubielewicz clinched the win for the Sound Tigers by stopping David Laliberte in the fifth round.

It was the first shootout loss of the season for Philadelphia, which is now 3-1 in those situations. Bridgeport stayed perfect at 5-0 in shootouts this year. Munroe was named the third star after making 28 saves on 29 shots faced. Dubielewicz took the win and the second star with his 29 stops.

The Phantoms are now 27-13-1-1 for 56 points. They hold a six-point lead over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the East Division. The Phantoms head to Binghamton for a meeting with the Senators tomorrow, and then return to the Wachovia Spectrum on Sunday to host the Lowell Devils. Before the game, the Phantoms will welcome their four millionth fan in team history. Afterwards, the Phantoms will hold their annual Photo Night, with all the players hanging out on the ice after the game to take pictures with fans. Tickets are available at the Wachovia Complex box office, online at ComcastTIX.com or phantomshockey.com, or by phone at 1-800-298-4200.
