Friday, October 22

Wheeling 0 @ Toledo 1

The Nailers started the season with a shutout loss for the second time in Wheeling history. The Nailers lost 4-0 at Richmond on October 15, 1999. The only goal scored in this game was a shorthanded goal in the second period for Toledo.

Saturday, January 2

Wheeling 3 @ Johnstown 4

The Nailers start the season 0-2-0 for fourth time in team history. Johnstown scored a first and second period goal and two third period goals to take a 4-0 lead. Ed McGrane scored his first goal as a Nailer at 11:13 of the third period from Mike Sgroi and Kenny Corupe. Jason Jaffray scored at 12:57 from Mark Kosick and Steve Crampton. Crampton completed the scoring at 14:28 from Kosick and Ray DiLauro.

PREVIEW OF UPCOMING NAILERS GAMES October 25-October 31

Friday, October 29 Wheeling @ Dayton 7:00p.m.

The Nailers play their third straight road game to open the season. It is also the third straight home opener for the opponents the Nailers will play. Last season the Nailers were 9-0-1 against Bombers, 4-0-1 in Dayton.

Saturday, October 30 Toledo @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers will raise their Northern Division and Eastern Conference Championship Banner before the start of their home opener. The first 3,000 fans will receive a rally towel courtesy of WesBanco and WTOV-9.

Sunday, October 31 Atlantic City @ Wheeling 7:00p.m.

The Nailers Halloween game time has been moved to 7:00pm because WTOV-9 will be telecasting the game live. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Nailers magnetic schedule courtesy of H.E. Neumann.

Nailers Player of the Week:

The Nailers Player of the Week is Steve Crampton. Crampton had one goal and one assist in two games played. Crampton also played at a +1 for the weekend.

Nailers Goaltender of the Week:

The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Joe Exter. Exter was 0-1-0 last week, losing 1-0 in Toledo. Exter made 25 saves on 26 shots in his first start of the season.
