Titans start season perfectly

TRENTON, NJ - Trenton started the 2004-05 regular season on the right foot going 2-0 during their opening weekend and getting two important wins against division rival, the Reading Royals.

On Friday night it was Matt Zultek who had a hand in all three Titans goals, as the Trenton was victorious over the Royals in their home opener, 3-1. The next night, rookie Brent Robinson's two goals and Andrew Allen's 41 saves keyed the 3-2 win over Reading.

The Titans head into a light weekend of play as they take the ice once for Atlantic City's home opener on Friday, October 29 at 7:05pm.

LAST WEEK:

Friday, October 22 vs. Reading W 3-1 Sovereign Bank Arena

- Mathieu Brunelle scored the first Titans goal of the new season on a breakaway at 4:49 of the first period for a 1-0 lead. Former Titans would then tie the score for Reading with just over five minutes left in the period. With Ian Turner in the penalty box at the beginning of the second, Rick Kowalsky converted the power play at :47 to give the lead back to the Titans. Former Royal Leon Hayward added the empty-net goal to secure the win. Andrew Allen turned away 24 of 25 shots for his first win of the season.

Saturday, October 23 @ Reading W 3-2 Sovereign Bank Arena

- Once again, the Titans struck early as Phil Lewandowski deflected an Evan Nielsen slapshot for a 1-0 lead 5:58 into the contest. Rookie Brent Robinson doubled the margin just 1:22 later as he wristed a Rick Kowalsky drop pass over the should of Royals goaltender Cody Rudkowsky. Judd Medak helped the Royals close the gap with a power play goal just over a minute into the second period. Robinson struck again, this time on the breakaway, to give Trenton a two-goal cushion. Jon Francisco added a goal late, but Andrew Allen made 41 saves - 18 saves on 19 shots in the third period - as the Titans held on for the 3-2 win.

Friday, October 29 @ Atlantic City, 7:05pm 91.3-FM WTSR Boardwalk Hall

- The first match of ten this season between the Titans and Bullies. The last time the two teams faced off , Mathieu Brunelle had a goal and two assists en route to a 3-1 Titans win. Trenton leads the all-time series 16-11-3.

* Andrew Allen posted a 2-0 record this past weekend with a 1.50 GAA and a .956 save percentage

* Matt Zutlek posted a three-point game on opening night with three assists in the 3-1 win over the Royals on Friday.

* In just his second game as a Titan, rookie forward Brent Robinson tallied two goals including the game-winner as Trenton downed Reading 3-2 on Saturday.

* The Titans are now 5-1 in home openers and 4-2 on opening night.

Milestones

* With an assist during the Titans 3-1 win on Saturday, Rick Kowalsky has reached 400 points in his ECHL career.

* Kowalsky is just one shy of his 200th ECHL goal.

* Matt Zultek is two points away from 150 in his ECHL career.

* Andrew Allen is two away from his 50th ECHL win.
