Dayton, OH – The Dayton Bombers opened their ECHL schedule going 1-2-0 during a 3-game road trip. The team plays two games this week, including their home-opener Friday against Wheeling.

Friday, October 22nd @ Peoria – The Bombers opened a 2-0 lead with goals from Janne Jokila in the first period and Shawn Limpright in the second, but Peoria stormed back with 5 unanswered goals – 4 in the third period - to spoil Dayton's regular-season opener.Bombers goaltender Andrew Penner stopped 31 of 36 shots, while Rivermen netminder Alfie Michaud turned aside 31 of 33. The game was played in front of a franchise-record 7,593 at the Peoria Civic Center. The teams will meet 8 more times in the regular season. Next meeting: October 30th @ Peoria.

Saturday, October 23rd @ Toledo – For the second straight night, Dayton scored first but lost the game. The Bombers and Storm swapped two goals apiece in the first period, but four straight goals in the final forty minutes gave Toledo a 6-2 lead before Matt Herneisen scored the final goal of the game for Dayton. Lanny Gare and Ben Knopp also scored for the Bombers in the 6-3 loss. Rookie goaltender Mike Ayers stopped 33 of 39 shots, while Storm goalie Scott Fankhouser recorded 19 saves (22 shots) in the winning effort. These teams will meet 10 more times. Next meeting: November 25th @ Dayton.

Sunday, October 24th @ Johnstown – The Bombers ended their season-opening road trip with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Johnstown Chiefs in front of 2,005 at the Cambria County War Memorial. Aaron Foster, Shawn Limpright and Janne Jokila scored for Dayton in regulation, and the game was tied at 3-3 after overtime. Bombers goaltender Andrew Penner stopped all five shooters in the shootout, while Ben Knopp beat Scott Fankhouser to give Dayton their first win of the young season. These teams will meet 9 more times in the regular season. Mext meeting : November 19th @ Johnstown.

This week, Dayton hosts Wheeling on Friday and travels to Peoria Saturday.
