
Two Cougars Named to Hockey Canada's Capital City Challenge Roster

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce forwards Riley Heidt and Ryker Singer have been named to Hockey Canada's Capital City Challenge roster.
The Capital City Challenge is a four-team tournament featuring three men's Under-17 teams and Canada's National Women's Team, Nov. 26th -Dec. 1st in Ottawa, ON.
66 players were named to the roster, and they will be divided into three teams- Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red, and Team Canada White. Those three teams will compete against Canada's National Women's Team as part of its centralization schedule. The rosters for Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red, and Team Canada White will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Heidt currently leads the Cougars in scoring with 11 points (3g-8a) and is fifth in Rookie scoring in the Western Hockey League (WHL). The Saskatoon, SK product has appeared in 31 career Western Hockey League games and has tallied 19 points (5g-14a). Heidt was the Cougars' first pick, second overall, in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.
Singer has collected three points (1g-2a) in his first seven games. The Paradise Hill, SK native scored his first WHL goal on October 22nd against the Victoria Royals. Singer had four points (1g-3a) in four games last season with the Lloydminster Bobcats Under-18 AAA in the Alberta Elite Hockey League. Singer was the Cougars' third selection, 22nd overall, in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Capital City Challenge opens on Nov. 26th at TD Place Arena in Ottawa, ON. Canada's National Women's Team will face Team Canada White in the tournament opener at 9 am PT, followed by Team Canada Black taking on Team Canada Red at 4 pm PT.
