Oil Kings Hill and McKnight Named to Hockey Canada's Staff for Capital City Challenge

Edmonton, AB - Hockey Canada unveiled their rosters and staff for the upcoming Capital City Challenge in Ottawa, Ontario later this month.

Edmonton Oil Kings General Manager Kirt Hill has been named as Director of Operations for Team Canada Black and Oil Kings Head Athletic Therapist Jimmy McKnight has been named Athletic Therapist for Team Canada Red.

The tournament will feature the top 66 under-17 players in Canada, broken up into three teams that will compete against one another and Canada's National Women's Team, as part of its centralization schedule.

The Capital City Challenge opens on November 26 at TD Place Arena, the home of the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League.

Hill, a Winnipeg, MB native, is in his fourth season as President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the Oil Kings. In his time with the organization, the team has won three straight Central Division titles, while posting a record of 112-34-11-10.

He was originally named as a Director of Operations for one of Team Canada's National Under-17 teams ahead of the 2020 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge that was cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

McKnight, a Bradford, ON product, is in his fist season as the Head Athletic Therapist for the Oil Kings after spending the past four years working for the OHL's Barrie Colts.

This is the first time McKnight has been selected to work for Hockey Canada.
