Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
THE STORY COMING IN
The Medicine Hat Tigers hit the Trans Canada Highway and head to east to take on the rival Swift Current Broncos. The Tigers came out of last weekend, claiming a point in overtime against the Moose Jaw Warriors, then falling by a score of 4-2 to the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday. The Broncos come in to tonight having lost their last 10 games, most recently pushing the Saskatoon Blades to a shootout.
TIGERS VS BRONCOS
This is the fourth of eight meetings between the Tigers and the Broncos this season, with the Broncos currently holding the edge in the season series 2-1. The last time these two teams met the Tigers were able to complete the complete comeback with Teague Patton tying the game up with midway through the third period. Lukas Svejkovksy then went to work, potting the game winner in Overtime. The Tigers are currently in 3rd in the Central Division and 6th in the Eastern Conference, while Swift Current is 6th in the Central Division and 11th in the Eastern Conference. The Tigers powerplay is 2nd best in the Central Division, while the Broncos PP sits in 5th spot.
SWIFT CURRENT BRONCOS
The Swift Current Broncos are in the midst of 10 game losing streak, with their last win coming on October 2nd against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Swift Current has been outscored by a margin of 43-20 over that time. While the end results haven't been there, the Broncos are a team on the rise, led by 2nd year forward Mathew Ward and 20-year old netminder Isaac Poulter.
WHO TO WATCH - TIGERS
They say in hockey if you're getting scoring chances, you're doing things right. That is definitely the case with Tyler MacKenzie. The 17-year-old from Red Deer, AB hasn't been able to find the net yet this season, but with 6 assists in 9 games, look for Tyler to make an impact in tonight's game. MacKenzie is a highly skilled player with a high hockey IQ. He skates well and is good at creating space for himself and other players.
WHO TO WATCH - BRONCOS
Mathew Ward currently has 11 points (4G, 7A) through 12 games this season with the Broncos, including points in his last two contests. The Kamloops, BC native has three multi-point games this season. Ward is an intelligent forward that uses angles very well in puck pursuit and aggressively tracks down plays.
