Titans go 1-1-1 over weekend

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans started the second half of the 2004-05 season by going 1-1-1 over a three-day, three game weekend

The home team reigned supreme during a home-and-home series against the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. On Friday the Bullies came away with a 4-3 win at Boardwalk Hall in overtime, while it was the Titans who clinched the victory the next night in the extra session, 3-2. Trenton was not able to build on its success as they fell to the Wheeling Nailers 1-0 on Sunday.

Trenton begins a string of five consecutive home games as they face the Peoria Rivermen on Tuesday. The Titans then take the ice for another three-game, three-day weekend, as they due battle with Toledo on Friday, Wheeling on Saturday and Reading on Sunday.

The Trenton Titans remain in fifth place in the North Division trailing the Reading Royals by four points .

Friday, January 28 @ Atlantic City T 3-2 (OTL)
Boardwalk Hall
- Despite leading 2-0 at the beginning of the third period, the Trenton Titans could not hold on as the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies rallied for a 3-2 overtime victory. Nick Deschenes helped give the Titans the two-goal cushion with a shorthanded, breakaway goal just 57 seconds into the final frame, but Dave Reid would take it upon himself to pull the Bullies even. The Atlantic City defenseman put Luke Curtin's rebound past Andrew Allen for a power play goal at 3:45 of the third period. Reid then tied it up 2-2 with a wrist shot that found its way through traffic into the back of the Titans' net. The two teams would skate into the overtime where Jason Notermann deflected Curtin's slap shot over Allen for the game-winning goal. The Titans set a season high with 91 penalty minutes, as Trenton and Atlantic City combined for a ECHL season high 162 PIM overall. Jake Moreland turned away 39 of 41 shots for his league leading 20th win of the year.

Saturday, January 29 vs. Atlantic City W 4-3 (OT)
Sovereign Bank Arena
- In a reversal of the previous night's game, it was the Titans who found themselves in hole early. Brett Nowak tallied power play and shorthanded goals in helping the Bullies stake a 3-0 lead in the first period. Matt Libby helped stem the tide with his second of the season with 25.4 left in first. Connor Dunlop and Nick Deschenes would go on to light lamp in the second period and tied the score 3-3. In the overtime, Rick Kowalsky notched the game-winning power play goal to clinch the 4-3 victory.

Sunday, January 30 @ Wheeling L 1-0
WesBanco Arena
- The Trenton Titans saw their road winless streak stretch to five games with a 1-0 shutout loss to the Wheeling Nailers. Despite being outshot 17-4 in the first period, Trenton was able to skate into the intermission tied 0-0. The Nailers would break the scoreless tie on the power play when Brendon Hodge's centering pass deflected off the skate of Evgeny Lazarev and past Chris Houle at 7:50 into second period. Wheeling goaltender Joe Exter allowed the Nailers' lead to hold up making 26 saves in the contest.

- Game three of seven against the Rivermen. Peoria leads the season series 2-0 with a weekend sweep of the Titans at Carver Arena, in which the home team outscored Trenton 8-2 over both games. Trenton trails the all-time series 5-8-2.

Friday, February 4 vs. Toledo, 7:30pm 91.3-FM WTSR
Sovereign Bank Arena
- The fourth of nine meetings versus Toledo. The Titans have averaged five goals a game in taking a 3-0-0 lead in the season series against the Storm. The Titans hold the edge in the all-time series 16-2-1.

Saturday, February 5 vs. Wheeling, 7:00pm 91.3-FM WTSR
Sovereign Bank Arena
- Game five out of for the Titans and Nailers this season. Wheeling has limited Trenton to just six goals in four games, as the Titans trail the season series 0-2-2. The Titans are 9-9-3 all-time against the Nailers.

- The sixth contest in the ten-game season series against Reading. Rick Kowalsky has registered 4 goals and 4 assists as the Titans are 3-2-0 head-to-head this year versus the Royals and 21-7-6 all-time.

· Trenton is tied for first with Las Vegas and Bakersfield in most games past regulation (12). The Titans are 7-0-5 in those contests.
· Nick Deschenes scored the Titans first shorthanded goal of the season on Friday night against Atlantic City.
· AC and Trenton combined for an ECHL season high 162 PIM on Friday.
· Trenton has yet to lose in regulation on the road when leading after any period.
· Jerramie Domish has five assists and a +6 rating in his last four games.

February 4
· The Trenton Titans have partnered with the American Heart Association for the second annual National Wear Red Day for Women. Join the Titans and the AHA on February 4 as the Trenton Titans take on the Toledo Storm at 7:30pm and wear something red in honor of the American Heart Association Go Red For Women movement. The first 1,500 fans entering the arena that night will receive a free American Heart Association red tally towel.

· The Trenton Titans host their annual Kids Run the Show Night in conjunction with The Trentonian. Children from the Mercer County are sent essay to The Trentonian explaining why they would like to work for the Trenton Titans. Selected winners will be behind the scenes on Friday as the "run the show" when the Titans face off against the Toledo Storm.
