Friday vs. Wheeling, (1-0 L)
Dayton, OH â The Dayton Bombers dropped a 1-0 decision to the Wheeling Nailers in front of 3,011 at the Nutter Center Friday night. The game's only goal was scored by Pascal Morency at 15:29 of the first period. Bombers goaltender MIKE AYERS, the reigning ECHL Goaltender of the Week, stopped 21 of 22 shots in a losing effort. Wheeling goaltender Joe Exter recorded 38 saves and first star honors for his first shutout and second win (2-7-0) of the season.
Saturday vs. San Diego, (2-1 L)
Dayton, OH â The Dayton Bombers dropped a 2-1 decision to the San Diego Gulls in front of 4,279 at the Nutter Center Friday night. Bombers All Star forward TYLER KOLARIK opened the scoring with his team-leading 13th goal of the season at 7:54 of the first period. Second period goals from Mike Garrow at 6:34 and Chris Lynch at 18:42 gave the San Diego Gulls a 2-1 lead, and there was no scoring in the third period. Before the game, STEVE SELF, JAMIE LING and LYLE STEIG were inducted into the Dayton Hockey HOF as members of the class of 2005.
Sunday vs. Reading, (4-2 L)
Dayton, OH â The Dayton Bombers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Reading Royals in front of 2,416 at the Nutter Center Sunday afternoon. Following a scoreless first period, the Royals opened a 1-0 lead when Eric Fortier beat MIKE AYERS just 10 seconds into the second period. Jon Francisco (9:25) and Mike Sandbeck (PPG, 15:21) gave Reading a 3-0 lead, before JANNE JOKILA put the Bombers on the board at 17:39 of period two. Jokila, then, pulled Dayton within one with his second goal of the game and 14th of the season 32 seconds into period three. Fortier scored his second goal of the game at 7:54, and the Royals held on for the 4-2 victory. Reading is 3-0-0 against the Bombers with 7 regular season meetings remaining. Before the powerplay goal from Sandbeck, Dayton had successfully killed off 44 straight shorthanded situations over the last 9 games.
