
Three Power Players Selected for 2011 SAL All-Star Game

West Virginia's Jameson Taillon, Brandon Cumpton and Dan Grovatt were named to the South Atlantic League mid-season All-Star team today. The game will take place at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, which is home to the Delmarva Shorebirds on Tuesday, June 21.
Jameson Taillon (RHP) - Taillon has gone 2-1 with a 3.71 ERA (34.0ip/14er) and 27 strikeouts in eight starts for the Power...Has issued just four walks in his 34.0 innings of work...Has allowed one earned run or less in five of his first eight starting assignments...Taillon was selected by the Pirates in the first round (second overall) of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft...He was rated by Baseball America as the number one prospect in the Pirates organization prior to this season...He was also tabbed by the same publication as having the "Best Fastball" and "Best Curveball" in the Pirates minor league system.
Brandon Cumpton (RHP) - Has gone 6-4 with a 5.11 ERA (56.1ip/32er) and 41 strikeouts in 11 games (10 starts) this year...Went 6-0 with a 1.18 ERA (38.0ip/5er) and 30 strikeouts in six starts in May...He was one of two pitchers in all of minor league baseball to record six wins last month (also Brett Cecil) and his 1.18 ERA ranked third in all of minor league baseball among pitchers with at least 35.0 innings...Is tied for second in the South Atlantic League with six victories...Cumpton was selected by the Pirates in the ninth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.
Dan Grovatt (OF) - Grovatt is hitting .297 (51-for-172) with 15 doubles, one triple, one home run, 21 RBI, 29 runs scored and nine stolen bases....He enters today ranked tied for second in the South Atlantic League in walks (25) and sixth in on-base percentage (.418)...Grovatt also enters today with a 1.000 fielding percentage in the outfield (103 total chances) and tied for third in the league with eight outfield assists...Grovatt was selected by the Pirates in the 11th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.
