Heiker Meneses and Drew Hedman each hit two-run singles during a five-run sixth inning, and the Greenville Drive came from behind for a 6-5 win over the Lexington Legends Monday night in Greenville.
Both teams scored single runs in the first inning, and the Legends took a 2-1 lead in the second. Emilio King led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on Tyler Burnett's single and to third when Roberto Pena hit into a force play at second. Jordan Scott's sacrifice fly scored King from third.
The Legends extended their lead to 4-1 in the sixth inning. With one out, Adam Bailey and Chris Wallace singled. Mike Kvasnicka hit into a force play at second, leaving runners at first and third. King lined a double to right center field, scoring Bailey and Kvasnicka.
But the Drive sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth. Miles Head hit a leadoff double, and after Brandon Jacobs lined out to shortstop, Jose Garcia doubled, scoring Head. Gabriel Garcia relieved Legends starter Carlos Quevedo and walked the next two batters, loading the bases. Garcia retired David Renfroe on a foul pop, but Meneses singled, scoring Garcia and Christian Vazquez to tie the game at 4-4. Meneses stole second, and he and Henry Ramos scored on Hedman's single, giving Greenville a 6-4 lead.
Bailey hit his 13th home run of the year leading off the eighth inning to close out the scoring.
Starter Miguel Celestino (4-3) worked the first six innings and got the victory. Garcia (1-1) took the loss.
Each team has won one game in the series, which concludes with a 7 p.m. game Tuesday night in Greenville.
