
Four Tourists Named to SAL All-Star Team

Four members of the Asheville Tourists have been selected to the Southern Division squad for the 2011 South Atlantic League All-Star Game, slated for Tuesday, June 21, at Delmarva's Arthur W. Purdue Stadium. Pitchers Edwar Cabrera and Juan Perez will join catcher Bryce Massanari and outfielder Kyle Parker on the team. Parker is expected to start in right field.
Cabrera leads the SAL with 96 strikeouts and is tied for first with 71 innings pitched. He has started 11 games and owns a 4-1 record with a 3.30 ERA. Perez has a 3-2 mark with a 3.96 ERA in 22 relief appearances and is tied for second on the circuit with 11 saves.
Massanari is tied for third in the league with 68 hits and fourth with a .356 batting average. The University of Georgia product also leads the team with 14 doubles and 12 home runs while adding 38 RBIs. Parker, a two-sport standout at Clemson who played quarterback and the outfield before being drafted in the first round by the Colorado Rockies in 2010, is hitting at a .295 clip with 13 doubles, eight home runs and a SAL-best 47 RBIs.
After Tuesday's Education Day outing versus Savannah, the Tourists will have Wednesday off before playing a three-game series at Charleston.
