
Power Sprint Past Shorebirds 11-3 in Finale

Salisbury, Md. - The West Virginia Power (28-29) blitzed the Delmarva Shorebirds (32-27) for six runs in the first inning and cruised to an 11-3 win in the series finale at Appalachian Power Park on Tuesday night. The Shorebirds still won the series two games to one. Michael Rooney recorded his second consecutive three-hit game.
Jarret Martin did not get out of the first inning in his fourth start of the season. He walked four batters and the Power plated six runs. Justin Howard got the scoring started with a two-run double to left-center field.
The Power plated a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to build a 9-0 lead.
The Shorebirds scored their first run in the seventh inning. Mychal Givens hit a line drive single into left-center field to score Riley Hornback, who reached on an error by Eric Avila.
Delmarva plated two runs in the ninth inning as reliever Jason Townsend issued three walks. Ty Kelly hit an RBI single to left field.
Power starter Tyler Waldron earned the win over six shutout innings. He allowed just three hits.
The Shorebirds were outhit 14 to six in game three.
