
BlueClaws Drop 6th Straight, Fall 10-3

HICKORY, NC - The Lakewood BlueClaws lost their 6th consecutive ballgame on Tuesday as the Hickory Crawdads jumped all over the BlueClaws 10-3. Lakewood SP David Buchanan got roughed up as he only lasted 3 innings and allowed 8 runs (5 earned) and 6 hits to go along with 3 hits and 4 strikeouts. Hickory SP Nicholas Tepesch had a fantastic outing tossing 7 shutout innings and allowing just 3 hits while striking out 10. The win gave Hickory a sweep in the 3 game series.
Hickory scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, and then tacked on 3 more in the bottom of the 3rd against the BlueClaws starter. The Crawdads made it a 10-0 game with 2 more runs off Lakewood reliever Chase Johnson in the 4th. Lakewood pushed across 2 runs in the 8th on Cameron Rupp's 2-run HR to break up the shutout. They scored one more run in the 9th before falling by the final of 10-3.
Jim Murphy singled in the 7th inning to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. And, Rupp finished the game 2-3. Rupp was the only BlueClaws player with more than 1 base hit as the team combined for 5 in the ballgame. Hickory leadoff hitter Jurickson Profar had the best day at the plate going 3-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Lakewood gets a much needed day off on Wednesday as they will travel back home to Lakewood to start a 7 game home stand on Thursday. First Pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
