Third Loss in a Row for Lehigh Valley

(Norfolk, VA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (68-57) dropped their third straight game on Wednesday evening as they lost to the Norfolk Tides (58-66) 4-1. The IronPigs recorded just five hits and were 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

The Tides took a 2-0 lead against Kent Emanuel (2-2) in the bottom of the first inning as Jacob Nottingham hit a two-run double that scored Jordan Westburg and Joseph Ortiz. Emanuel left the game after 2/3 of an inning. Jonathan Hennigan entered the game to pitch in relief of Emanuel. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, extending his scoreless inning streak to 13 2/3 innings.

Braeden Ogle pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Hennigan. Lehigh Valley scored a run against Mike Baumann (2-6) in the top of the fifth inning as Daniel Robertson hit an RBI double that would score Will Toffey. Baumann allowed just one run over six innings pitched, while striking out 13 batters.

Jordan Westburg homered against Chris Devenski in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Norfolk a 3-1 lead. The home run for Westburg was his 13th of the season. Francisco Morales gave up a run in the bottom of the seventh inning as he issued a walk to Yusniel Diaz with the bases loaded that would score Westburg. Norfolk advanced their lead to 4-1.

Brian Marconi pitched a scoreless inning of relief, striking out three batters. Mark Appel retired the side in the bottom of the eighth inning for Lehigh Valley. Cole Uvila earned his 11th save of the season for Norfolk.

The IronPigs and Tides continue their series on Thursday afternoon at Harbor Park. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
