The 2004 Western Conference Champions and U.S. Division Champions, Everett Silvertips will take part in their second WHL campaign during the 2004-2005 season. During their successful inaugural season in 2003-2004, the Silvertips broke a few expansion team records along the way. The Silvertips earned the most points in CHL history with 80 points, most wins by an expansion team in the WHL with 35, best winning percentage by an expansion franchise in the WHL (.556), most shutouts by a first year hockey club with 7, the first expansion franchise to record back to back shutouts and the first expansion team to win a division and conference title.

The Silvertips return 14 players from last season and will feature 11 first year players on this year's roster. Key returnee's from last season is Barry Horman (15 goals, 22 assists), who finished 3rd on the hockey club in scoring a season ago with 37 points. Also Marc Desloges (14 goals, 18 assists) will return after finishing tied for 4th in scoring on the hockey club in 2003-04.

On defense, Mitch Love (12 goals, 15 assists) and Ivan Baranka (3 goals, 12 assists) lead a young core of defensemen this season. Love led all Silvertip defensemen with 27 points a year ago and Baranka led all Everett defensemen in scoring during the 2004 WHL Playoffs with 8 points. In goal Mike Wall will lead the way as the Telkwa, BC native finished 5th in the WHL with a 2.27 Goals Against Average and 7th in the WHL with a .920 Save Percentage last season.

2003-2004 REGULAR SEASON RECORD

The Silvertips finished the 2003-04 season with a record of 35-27-8-2 record (18-14-4 at home€¦.17-13-4-2 on the road) for 80 points. The Silvertips finished 1st place in the U.S. Division in their inaugural season.

VERSUS THE ROCKETS

(0-0) Tonight is the first meeting of four between the two Western Conference rivals. Last season, the Silvertips went 2-1-0-1 against the Rockets and 1-0-0-1 at Prospera Place. Both teams met in a classic seven game series in the 2004 Western Conference Finals with the Silvertips coming back from a 3-1 series deficit to win three straight overtime games and win the series 4-3. Future Meetings: October 13 @ Everett, January 26 @ Kelowna, February 9 @ Everett.

SILVERTIPS VERSUS THE B.C. DIVISION IN 2003-04

The Silvertips finished the regular season 8-9-1-2 against the BC Division. The Silvertips last season finished 3-6 at home and 4-3-1-2 on the road against the BC Division.

2003-2004 SPECIALTY TEAMS

Last season, the Silvertips finished 18th in WHL on the power play (56 for 416, 13.5%) and 2nd in the WHL on the penalty kill (255 for 285, 89.5%).

2004 PRE-SEASON SUMMARY

The Silvertips ended the 2004 Pre-Season with a 2-1-2-1 record. Zach Hamill led the Silvertips in scoring during the pre-season with 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points. Curtis Billsten, Torrie Wheat, Ivan Baranka, Tyler Dietrich, and Brady Calla all finished the exhibition season with 3 points. In goal, Mike Wall finished the pre-season with a 3.17 Goals Against Average in two games and Leland Irving posted a 1.65 Goals Against Average and a .938 Save Percentage in 5 games during the pre-season.

The Silvertips currently have 7 players on their roster that was selected in the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft. Zach Hamill (1st Round, 3rd Overall), Taylor Ellington (3rd Round, 41st Overall), Brady Calla (4th Round, 61st Overall), Leland Irving (5th Round, 81st Overall), Graham Potuer (9th Round, 161st Overall), Brennan Zasitko (11th Round, 201st Overall), Jonathan Harty (12th Round, 221st Overall).

UPCOMING SCHEDULE FOR THE TIPS'

The Silvertips will battle the Kamloops Blazers Sunday night at Sport Mart Place in Kamloops, BC. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. Everett will return home for their home opening weekend when the Silvertips face off against the Portland Winter Hawks on Friday, October 1 and the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, October 2 at the Everett Events Center. Both games will begin at 7:05 p.m.
