Home-and-Home

After knocking off Tri-City in overtime on Wednesday, the Hawks embark on their second of three straight divisional games tonight in Everett, before returning home for a rematch with the Silvertips on Saturday.

Portland is unbeaten against Everett this season, notching three wins and one overtime defeat in four contests. James Stefan and Luca Cagnoni lead the way with five points apiece for the Winterhawks, while Ryan Hofer and Austin Roest have each chipped in four points for the Tips.

Rollin'

With wins in six consecutive contests, the Hawks have kicked off their third win streak of six or more games this season. Portland has picked up at least one point in each December game thus far (7-0-1-0) - though the lone overtime loss did come in Everett on Dec. 3 - and has established itself as one of the top contenders in the Western Conference.

Jack O'Brien and Gabe Klassen have set the pace for the Hawks in December with 10 and nine points, respectively, with Luca Cagnoni (8) and James Stefan (8) contributing heavily as well. Additionally, all but six Portland skaters have tallied at least one point this month, and five different players have scored a game-winning goal - including rookie Rhett Ravndahl's first WHL marker on Dec. 7 against Prince George.

Race to the Top

At the midway point of the season, the U.S. Division race has become a two-team battle between Portland and Seattle with 51 and 52 points, respectively. But despite the nearly 20-point gap to third-place Everett, topping the Tips is no easy task. The aforementioned Hofer and Roest have been lively this season, and other players like Jackson Berezowski - who missed two contests against Portland earlier this year - and newly acquired netminder Tyler Palmer have the ability to make the difference in any contest.

The Hawks will have their hands full tonight, but picking up two points will be crucial to keeping pace in the battle for the top spot in the division.
