
Silvertips and Winter Hawks Face off Friday Night

The Everett Events Center will be rocking for the Silvertips home opener on Friday night when the 2004 Western Conference Champions, Everett Silvertips battle their U.S. Division rival, Portland Winter Hawks. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The party will continue on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. when the skillful Vancouver Giants visit the Everett Events Center in a rematch of the 2nd round of the 2004 WHL Playoffs.

TIP NOTES
(0-0) Friday night is the first meeting of ten meetings between the two U.S. Division rivals. Last season the Silvertips took the season series with a 7-3-2 record against the Hawks. Everett last season posted a 4-1-2 record against the Winter Hawks at the Everett Events Center. SILVERTIPS VERSUS THE U.S. DIVISION IN 2003-04
The Silvertips finished the regular season 21-15-6-0 against the US Division in 2003-2004. The Silvertips last season finished 11-7-3 at home and 10-8-3 on the road against the US Division.
SPECIALTY TEAMS
Last season, the Silvertips finished 18th in WHL on the power play (56 for 416, 13.5%) and 2nd in the WHL on the penalty kill (255 for 285, 89.5%). After two games this season, the Silvertips are 1st in the WHL on the power play (5 for 12, 41.7%) and tied for 1st on the penalty kill (8 for 8, 100%).
2004 PRE-SEASON SUMMARY
The Silvertips ended the 2004 Pre-Season with a 2-1-2-1 record. Zach Hamill led the Silvertips in scoring during the pre-season with 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points. Curtis Billsten, Torrie Wheat, Ivan Baranka, Tyler Dietrich, and Brady Calla all finished the exhibition season with 3 points. In goal, Mike Wall finished the pre-season with a 3.17 Goals Against Average in two games and Leland Irving posted a 1.65 Goals Against Average and a .938 Save Percentage in 5 games during the pre-season.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE FOR THE TIPS'
Next weekend the Silvertips will travel north of the border to Vancouver, BC to face off with the Vancouver Giants once again on Friday, October 8. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Everett will be coming back home on Saturday, October 9 when the Lethbridge Hurricanes make their first ever trip to the Everett Events Center. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
