Pats Look to Rebound in Prince Albert

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats play the first of two straight contests against the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday at 7:00 p.m. inside the Art Hauser Centre.

The Pats have dropped their last three games as they are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday at the Brandt Centre, as the Pats were shutout for the first time this season and for the first time since April 1, 2022. Carson Bjarnason made 24 saves for his second shutout of the season while the Wheat Kings got goals from Brett Hyland, Anthony Wilson, Nate Danielson and Mason Ward. The final shots were 24-19 for Brandon. Regina went 0-3 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill.

Meanwhile, the Prince albert Raiders opened their second-half schedule on Tuesday with a 3-1 loss to the Saskatoon Blades at the SaskTel Centre. The Raiders trailed 3-0 after two and received a late goal from Carter Anderson in the final frame. The final shots were 35-16 for the Blades, as Max Hildebrand made 32 saves in the loss. The Raiders finished 0-4 on their power play and 5-5 on their penalty kill.

Prince Albert has now dropped seven of their last eight contests since the beginning of December, and have lost their last two games coming into tonight's battle. Last season, the Raiders finished eighth in the Eastern Conference Standings with 61 points (28-35-4-1).

The Pats last faced off against the Raiders on December 9, winning that contest 3-2 at the Art Hauser Centre. Riley Ginnell scored twice, while Stanislav Svozil rounded out the scoring. HEADLINES

The WHL announced on Thursday that TSN will air two upcoming Regina Pats games in the second-half of the season, as they will broadcast the Pats and Hitmen at the Saddledome in Calgary on February 1 and the Pats against the Winnipeg ICE at the Brandt Centre on March 3.

Connor Bedard tied the single game Canadian World Junior' record for points in a game with seven (3G-4A) leading Canada to an 11-2 win over Germany on Wednesday...on Thursday, Bedard then tied Pats alumnus Jordan Eberle for the Canadian World Junior' record for goals with 14, scoring twice in a six point game in a 11-0 win over Austria.

Connor Bedard has 27 career World Juniors points, which is second on the all-time Canadian World Junior points list, now sitting four points behind Eric Lindros for the record of 31.

The Regina Pats have lost their last three games since Dec. 16 after they were winners of eight of their previous 10 games prior to this skid...during this stretch, the Pats have been outscored 16-to-3...the club is still 8-5-0-0 over their last 13 games since November 25.

BY THE NUMBERS

64: Number of points (27G-37A) in 28 games for Pats captain Connor Bedard leads the WHL...and his 37 assists are first and his 27 goals are second...the North Vancouver, BC product is also on a 27 game point-streak with all 64 points during that time.

44: Points for Alexander Suzdalev is tied for 10th in the WHL, while his 20 goals are tied for sixth...the Washington Capitals 2022 third-round pick had his 10 game point-streak end on Wednesday (8G-10A-18PTS), and has points in 19 of his last 21 games (14G-21A-35PTS).

45: Points this season for forward Tanner Howe is tied for third in the WHL, while his 21 goals are fifth and his shooting percentage of 28.0% (21-for-75) is third in the league...his 12 game point-streak ended Wednesday (11G-10A-21PTS)...he has scored in 11 of his last 17.

+14: Plus/Minus rating for 20-year-old defenceman Luke Bateman is tied for firsr on the Pats roster, while also ranking tied for 18th amongst all WHL defencemen...among all the Eastern Conference defencemen, the Kamloops, B.C. product is ninth in +/-.

17-15-2: First half record this season versus the Pats 11-16-0 first half record last season where the Pats went 7-7-0 at home and just 5-9-0 on the road...at end of the first half last year, the Pats were 18th in the WHL and sixth in their division.
