
Stripers' Offense Quieted in 7-2 Loss to Buffalo

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Gwinnett Stripers (18-16) were limited to six singles by the Buffalo Bisons (13-18) in a 7-2 loss on Thursday afternoon at Coolray Field. The Bisons won the three-game series, 2-1.
Scoring Recap: Buffalo scored five runs off Stripers' starter Touki Toussaint to take a 5-1 lead. Jonathan Davis (4) hit a leadoff home run in the first inning, and Andrew Guillotte notched an RBI single in the second and RBI double in the fourth to make it 3-0. Later in the fourth, Guillotte scored on a single by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to push the lead to 4-0, and Anthony Alford scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-0. The Stripers ended the shutout in the fifth as Ryan LaMarre came around to score on an error to cut the deficit to 5-1. Cavan Biggio put Buffalo back up by five with an RBI double in the sixth. Gwinnett's final run came in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single from LaMarre. In the ninth, Davis drew a bases-loaded walk from Thomas Burrows to give the Bisons a 7-2 lead.
Stripers Stats: Toussaint (L, 1-1) pitched 4.2 innings and allowed five runs on eight hits in his first career Triple-A loss. Atlanta Braves' left-hander Jesse Biddle tossed a scoreless seventh inning in his third rehab appearance. LaMarre went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Bisons Stats: Starter Shawn Morimando (W, 1-2) pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just two runs - one earned - on five hits. Offensively, Guillotte went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Davis went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Postgame Notes: The Stripers walked a season-high nine batters and hit four batters in the game. The four hit batters tied a Gwinnett single-game record, set on April 11, 2013 at Charlotte. A season-high 8,318 fans were in attendance at Coolray Field for Education Day.
