Stockton, California - The Stockton Thunder (28-22-0-6) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (29-21-3-5) 3-2 Friday night at Stockton Arena as they scored a power-play goal with 43 seconds left in regulation.
Utah tied the game at 2 9:52 into the third period as Derick Martin and Channing Boe worked the puck around on a delayed penalty and the Grizzlies scored six-on-five on Vinny Scarsella's 11th goal of the season as he hammered in a backdoor pass. The Grizzlies came out strong in the third period, outshooting Stockton 10-3 before an inadvertent clear by goaltender Igor Bobkov put the Grizzlies shorthanded in the final minute on a delay of game penalty.
The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead 3:12 into the second period on Danick Paquette's 14th goal of the year and second in two games as he blasted a shot in transition leading Utah up ice on an odd-man rush. Stockton tied the contest 2:53 later and took a 2-1 lead with just over a minute to go in the second period on a power-play goal.
Bobkov stopped 19 of 22 shots and suffered just his second loss in the last 14 starts as he drops to 12-6-2-2.
