Toledo, OH - Goaltender Jordan Binnington turned aside 30 shots as the Kalamazoo Wings grinded out a 2-1 victory over the Toledo Walleye Friday night at the Huntington Center.

The win extended the K-Wings season-high to six games, while propelling them into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Toledo drew first blood with a goal from Brett Perlini (5th) 14:42 into the second period.

While it looked like Toledo would carry the lead into the locker room, Kalamazoo's Justin Taylor had other plans. Taylor (16th) faked a wrap around and brought the puck back to the near post where he was able to slide in the equalizer with 32 seconds remaining in the stanza.

The K-Wings jumped ahead midway in the third period with a goal from Matt Caria (21st). Caria, who increased his point streak to four games, has earned points in 10 out of his last 11 games. Nick Sirota and Chris Lawrence earned assist on the game-winning tally. With the assist, Lawrence pushed his point streak to six games.

Kalamazoo and Toledo will square off again tomorrow, Saturday, March 15th for a 7:15 p.m. encounter at the Huntington Center.
